The Berkley PowerBait Power Grub in White is one of the best soft baits for still water trout fishing, especially on sunny days when trout are being finicky and pressured. I prefer the 2" size over the 3" for still water trout — it is easier for smaller rainbow trout to get in their mouths and the hook-up ratio is noticeably higher. I rig this soft plastic trout bait on a 1/16 or 1/8 oz jig head and it produces consistent action in calm lake conditions where other lures struggle. The curly tail design generates natural flutter and movement even at very slow retrieves, making it ideal for still water trout fishing from shore or kayak. Berkley's PowerBait scent formula is built into the plastic itself, giving trout extra reason to hold on longer after the strike — a real advantage when fishing still water.
