The Berkley PowerBait Power Nymph 1" is one of the most versatile soft plastic trout baits you can carry for still water fishing. I reach for it when I want to try something different from a standard grub or minnow profile, and it consistently produces. The compact 1" size is perfectly matched to the natural insects trout feed on in lakes and ponds, making it a natural choice for still water trout fishing in clear or pressured water. I fish it three different ways depending on the situation — from the kayak I troll it behind a Wigglefin Action Disc on a jig head at whatever depth my fish finder shows trout holding, from shore I jig it on a light jig head or dead-stick it and let the scented soft plastic do the work, and when ice fishing I jig or dead-stick it below the hole with great results. For drop shot trout fishing from shore I rig it on a size 6 or 8 Salmon Egg hook which keeps it at a precise depth in the strike zone longer than most other setups. The PowerBait scent formula is built into the plastic and gives trout extra reason to hold on after the bite.
